When you go through one of our tunnels, take a look at all of the moving parts that are cleaning your vehicle. Much of what goes into giving you the best clean car experience was made in our own facility by our sister company, innovateIT.
Shane Groff, Director of National Sales and Product Development at innovateIT Car Wash Equipment, explains how this all started, “The reason Hoffman Car Wash started developing equipment for its own washes before innovateIT started, was because we were constantly modifying equipment from other manufacturers. It became obvious to us that it made more sense to build something from scratch instead of constantly buying and modifying equipment for our needs.”
innovateIT was born in 2018 from more than 50 years of car wash experience and the desire to do things better. When Hoffman Car Wash couldn’t find the best solutions for their operations, they developed them ourselves. Tom Hoffman, Jr., owner of Hoffman Car Wash, is the driving force behind this initiative due to his love of customizing existing equipment to meet the specific needs of Hoffman Care Wash.
“In the 11th grade, we got our first home computer for business and I taught myself how to program in the basic computer language. I took some electricity classes and developed a passion for electricity and control.”
Car wash operators from around the country would visit our facilities and point out the various customized items asking where they could get it. They would ask if we would be willing to make it for them as well. After one of those tours and several years of saying ‘no’ to potential customers, Tom said to Shane “what if we just stopped saying no and we take the opportunity to get into the manufacturing space.”
Hoffman continues, “Eventually it got to the point where we started building our own tunnel control system and it snowballed from there. It was a big deal when we started developing our own tunnel controller because operators would normally buy their controllers from one of the vendors in the industry.”
And that’s when innovateIT took off.
Since developing their first Tunnel Controller, the innovateIT team now manufactures dozens of products including reclaim units, reverse osmosis systems, sensor kits, and high-pressure pumping stations and distributes them to car washes all around the country.
